If you’re searching for a decent laptop at an affordable price point, the Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 could be your ideal pick. It’s powerful and runs Windows 10 with MS Office preinstalled. This 11th Gen Intel Core i5 processor delivers decent performance for everyday tasks while being fast enough to handle light gaming without much hitching or frame rate spikes.
1. Intel Core i5 Processor
The Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 is powered by an 11th gen Intel Core i5-11300H processor, boasting a peak Turbo Boost clock speed of 4.4GHz. It comes equipped with 8GB DDR4 RAM and 512GB NVMe SSD storage.
These components make for a powerful combination, offering enough processing power for everyday tasks as well as light gaming. We tested the laptop using various benchmarks to assess its raw performance and were pleased to see that it handled everything we threw at it without issue.
However, the integrated Intel Iris Xe graphics aren’t up to par for a computer of this class. While they can handle older games and basic 2D titles, if you want to play modern titles you’ll have to increase the graphics settings to their highest possible setting.
The Core i5 Processor supports Intel’s Turbo Boost technology, which increases its clock speed during times of high demand while monitoring temperature for safety. This enhances performance while saving on energy consumption. Furthermore, this processor makes an ideal candidate for virtualization – enabling it to function as multiple operating systems simultaneously – a popular choice among companies with large computing facilities looking to streamline processes and cut costs.
2. 8GB RAM
The Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 is an ideal laptop that provides great performance with a large battery and clear display. It boasts an efficient processor, 512GB SSD storage, and Windows 10 operating system so you can make the most of your time.
The 11th-gen Intel Core i5-11300H processor runs at 4.4GHz, while Intel Iris Xe handles graphics. With 8GB of RAM available, it may not be the most expansive option out there, but should still provide plenty of memory for most users.
When it comes to storage, the Redmi Book Pro 15 features a 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD that’s fast and responsive. Plus, with plenty of space on board, this drive doesn’t feel slow even under heavy usage.
Although the display on the Redmi Book Pro 15 isn’t particularly outstanding, it’s still suitable for everyday use. With its full HD screen, there’s plenty of space to work on Excel sheets, type out Word documents and attend video calls without any issues.
The only drawback of the display is its poor color reproduction and viewing angles, particularly outdoors where contrast levels and colors may not be as accurate as they should be.
3. 512GB SSD
The 512GB SSD in the Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 offers ample space to store photos, music, and videos. Furthermore, its speedy 512GB HDD allows programs and files to load much quicker than with an HDD.
Professionals who require large amounts of storage capacity on their laptops will find this to be a great option. Photographers and graphic designers especially will benefit from this increase in capacity.
This will enable them to work more efficiently and save time in the long run. Furthermore, this helps them avoid running out of space while editing images or videos.
Therefore, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro 15 is an excellent option for those seeking an affordable yet high-performance laptop. However, it’s worth remembering that if you’re an avid gamer or a serious photo or video editor, a 1TB SSD might be more suitable.
Super Retina display and high-end Intel Core i5 processor make for an impressive combination, but we found performance to be inconsistent at times due to issues with its energy management system which sometimes fails to operate optimally.
4. Windows 10
Windows 10 is the operating system pre-installed on the Redmi Book Pro 15. It represents an upgrade over Microsoft’s previous version and is available in two languages – English and Chinese.
This version of the operating system can be used on PCs and tablet PCs alike, being compatible with both USB devices and external hard drives. Furthermore, it’s user-friendly so you shouldn’t experience any difficulties installing or using this OS.
The Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 is equipped with an 11th-gen Intel Core i5 processor with up to 4.4GHz clock speed, 8GB DDR4 3200MHz RAM and 512GB PCIe NVMe M.2 SSD for storage needs. Its graphics are handled by an integrated Intel Iris Xe GPU for smooth performance.
It was easily capable of handling tasks such as web browsing, office work and 4K video playback without any problems. While the 8GB of memory may not be sufficient for demanding activities like gaming, it should still be more than enough for most casual users’ needs.
The Redmi Book Pro 15 may not be the fastest notebook in its class, but it does deliver reliable performance and impressive battery life. Plus, its decent display and audio make it a great option for anyone needing a lightweight laptop for everyday use.
5. 10-hour battery life
If you’re searching for an entry-level laptop that performs well, looks nice and won’t break your budget, the Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 might be suitable. Unfortunately, it falls short in all areas – with its display being the primary reason why we don’t recommend this device.
Unfortunately, the Redmi Book Pro 15’s display is truly terrible with numerous issues such as low contrast and washed-out colors that make it difficult to work with. This setback makes it hard to recommend the laptop over more desirable models like the Realme Book, especially at this price point.
Thankfully, it does come with an external display that can be connected to your laptop for a superior viewing experience. While you will have to spend more money to get this feature, the extra investment is well worth it.
It also boasts a 46Whr battery inside which should provide approximately 10 hours of battery life on average, and can be quickly recharged using the 65W charger included with the laptop. While not the best performance, this level is more than sufficient at this price point.
6. Keyboard
The Redmi Book Pro 15 boasts a well-designed keyboard that’s comfortable and straightforward to type on. Its keys are sizeable, offer good spacing, 1.4mm of travel distance, and provide crisp feedback when pressed.
On the right side of the keyboard are PrtScn, Insert, Home and PgUp keys; on the left you’ll find a number pad. I’m not sure if this is the ideal layout but I found it convenient when typing and editing text.
Throughout my review, I experienced no major problems with either keyboard or touchpad; they were responsive and precise without any delays. The large trackpad works well for multiple finger inputs, while scrolling, swiping, and zooming are easy and effective operations.
The laptop is thin and light, weighing only 1.8 kg. The design is uncluttered, the lid opening easily with one hand; however, disassembling it requires some effort due to multiple latches holding it together.
7. Display
The Xiaomi Redmi Book Pro 15 features a 15.6-inch Full HD display that provides excellent viewing angles. It’s bright enough to work indoors without any reflection issues, however, it may not be suitable for color-sensitive tasks like photo editing or gaming due to washed-out colors and poor contrast levels.
The screen also features a matte surface which makes it easier to see in bright environments, though it can easily pick up smudges and fingerprints. Furthermore, there are plenty of connectivity options on board such as two USB 3.2 Gen 1 port, HDMI, SD card reader, 3.5mm headphone jack and DC charging port on the right side.
For a budget laptop, the speakers in this device are quite impressive. They feature bottom-firing speakers that can get quite loud. Furthermore, they support DTS audio format and accurately reproduce voices.
