Types of Vasti
- Anuvasana Vasthi: This treatment involves the introduction of medicated oil into the rectum. It is used to lubricate and nourish the colon, as well as to treat conditions such as constipation, diarrhea, and hemorrhoids.
- Kashaya Vasti: This is a vasti technique in which heat is delivered to a specific portion of the body. It is accomplished by storing heated and medicinal oils. In the damaged region, a dam made of herbal dough is constructed, and oil is poured. The oil is left there to revitalise the body by reducing pain, edoema, and tension. This therapy can also help with acute and chronic back pain, lumbar spondylosis, sciatica, osteoporosis, and disc prolapse. Sciatica pain is eased, as is discomfort from a prolapsed intervertebral disc. The nerves are stimulated, which relieves pain and numbness. Rheumatoid arthritis, lumbosacral strain, and disc bulging are also treated with this vasti.
- Uttara Vasthi: This treatment involves the introduction of medicated oil or decoction into the bladder or uterus. It is used to treat conditions such as urinary tract infections, cystitis, and infertility.
